Overview
Assistant Farm Managers looking for their next position are invited to apply for a fulltime position in a dynamic family-owned farming business operating multiple farms at Sale on the coast in eastern Victoria.
The farms carry sheep, a beef herd and produce dry land and irrigated crops using modern infrastructure and technology.
Starting now and reporting to the owners, the Assistant Farm Manager will be involved in production and maintenance across all three key areas of the business.
The position is best suited to an energetic Assistant Farm Manager with leadership and team working skills, sheep and beef husbandry knowledge and practical experience, pasture, forage, mechanical, water and maintenance experience who shows attention to detail in their work.
The role can be tailored to livestock, cropping or mixed farm management depending on preference.
Your own working dogs are essential.

The position includes air-conditioned 3-bedroom accommodation with outdoor entertainment area and sheds on 5 fenced acres; pets and horses are welcome.

It's just 20 minutes' drive to Sale, which provides shopping, healthcare and recreation, and for those who enjoy winter sports, the slopes are a couple of hours away.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a fitness for work medical and will be asked to provide a police check.

Livestock
Co-ordinate all sheep and cattle activities across farms
Lead sheep and cattle teams and work hands-on in all areas
Livestock mustering and yard work
General livestock health and nutrition
Cropping
Pasture management
Establish forages & make hay – machinery operating
Fence and water installation and maintenance
General
Co-ordinate sheep, cattle and cropping teams
Mechanical and general farm maintenance
Log all activities on farm app
Work as a team and individually, self-motivated
Skills & Qualities
Demonstrated leadership, supervision & teamworking skills
Able to maintain high standards of farm presentation and maintenance
In-depth sheep, beef cattle and cropping knowledge and experience
Able to participate in weekend work during busy times at various locations
Ag machinery operating skills
Mechanical, fence, water, and general maintenance skills
Must have manual driver's licence + own vehicle, truck licence preferred
Must have own working dogs
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Models harmonious behaviour expected of all employees on farm and in the community
Demonstrates safe working practices
Fit, neat, tidy, and organised
