The Role
Centacare's Whyalla site is looking for an experienced Disability Support Worker (DSW) to join on a casual basis. In this role you will assist clients by providing services and support aimed at maximizing their independence at home and in the community, strengthening their relationships with family and social networks, and facilitating opportunities to achieve personal goals.
Responsibilities
* Supervise and support clients with daily living activities and personal care needs, either individually or as part of a team.
* Facilitate community access opportunities for clients, including social events and medical appointments.
* Maintain accurate documentation to monitor and report on client progress and health care.
* Implement educational, skill‐development, and social activity programs for clients.
* Assist in developing, implementing, and reviewing clients' Individual Support Plans to ensure personalized care.
* Provide person‐centred support tailored to each client's goals and foster increased skill development and independence.
Qualifications and Skills
* Certificate III in Disability Services or Individual Support, or an acceptable alternative.
* Commitment to undertake a Certificate III in Individual Support within 6 months of starting and complete it within 2 years of employment.
* Valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) – employers check.
* Valid NDIS Worker Check.
* Valid Australian Driver's Licence.
* Current First Aid and CPR certification.
* Completion of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission – New Worker NDIS Induction Modules and Worker Orientation Module.
* Ability to comply with Centacare Policy COVID‐19 Vaccination requirements.
* Ability and availability to work outside normal hours, including weekends, overnights and evenings.
* Willingness to work extra shifts as required.
* Willingness to transport clients in a Centacare Vehicle or own motor vehicle and comply with the Grey Fleet Vehicle Contract.
Desirable
* Experience working with people with a disability and their families.
* Experience in community‐based human services.
