Financial Controller – Lead the Finance Function in a Growing Construction Group
A leading residential construction group with a strong project pipeline is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take ownership of the finance function and drive operational excellence across the business. This is a pivotal role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys variety, and wants to be a key decision-maker in a growing organisation.
What You'll Be Doing
Lead and mentor the accounts team, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Oversee payroll and ensure full compliance with awards and regulatory requirements.
Manage treasury functions, cash flow, business risk, and financial planning.
Prepare budgets, rolling forecasts, and detailed monthly management reports.
Review project budgets, contracts, progress claims, retentions, and bank guarantees.
Maintain compliance across Income Tax, FBT, GST, Workers Compensation and Payroll Tax.
Strengthen internal controls, optimise systems, and maintain data integrity.
Manage group insurance policies and financial licensing compliance.
Monitor build costs, margins, overheads, and project profitability.
Partner with external advisers, financiers, and management on strategy, tax planning, and acquisitions.
Oversee financial reporting for finance applications and year-end requirements.
What You'll Bring
Proven experience in a senior finance or controller role.
Background in property, building or construction (highly regarded).
Strong grasp of financial controls, reporting, and compliance.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
High attention to detail and the ability to work autonomously.
Proficiency in MS Office and financial/project management systems.
