Senior Financial Accountant Job Summary

The Senior Financial Accountant will be part of a finance team led by highly experienced ex-Big 4 leaders, working in a technically complex environment that demands depth in accounting standards and an analytical mindset.
About the Role
* Prepare financial statements, ensuring compliance with AASB, IFRS, and government reporting requirements.
* Prepare technical accounting position papers on complex topics, including financial instruments under IFRS 7 and IFRS 9.
* Draft board-level reports and collaborate closely with senior stakeholders and Treasury.
* Analyse and interpret accounting standards, advising on new requirements and their impact on financial reporting.
* Review complex reconciliations, journals, and support the month-end close process with a high level of accuracy.
* Manage regulatory reporting obligations, liaising with internal/external auditors and supporting audit readiness.
* Drive process improvements, knowledge sharing, and mentor junior team members in technical excellence.
Requirements
* CA qualified, ideally Big 4 trained with 5+ years of audit experience within financial services.
* Strong technical accounting/audit experience, including understanding of complex accounting standards.
* Strong communication skills – confident in managing auditor relationships.
* Curious, proactive and keen to develop commercially.
