We are seeking a highly accomplished School Business Manager (SBM) to play a strategic and operational leadership role within Curtin Medical School (CMS) - an integral part of the Faculty of Health Sciences and home to Western Australia's only undergraduate medical degree.

Curtin Medical School is committed to producing future-ready medical graduates who are equipped to meet community needs through strong primary care expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to work effectively in inter-professional healthcare teams.
The School's flagship Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program commenced in 2017 and is delivered predominantly in state-of-the-art clinical teaching and simulation facilities on Curtin's Bentley campus. The MBBS is the only undergraduate medical degree in Western Australia, with a strong focus on equity, including preferential selection of students from rural, Indigenous Australian and other equity backgrounds.
CMS has an extensive clinical education footprint, with:

About the role
Reporting directly to the Dean, and working closely with the Faculty General Manager, the School Business Manager provides high-level executive, strategic and operational leadership to support the School's mission and objectives.
You will act as the key liaison between the School and central University service areas, ensuring the efficient delivery of services, effective management of resources, and alignment with Faculty and University priorities. As a key leader within CMS, you will play a critical role in shaping and delivering the School's strategic direction.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
* Provide strategic business advice and executive support to the Dean and Associate Dean
* Lead the day-to-day operations of Curtin Medical School
* Manage, mentor and develop professional staff, fostering a positive and high-performing team culture
* Coordinate and deliver complex projects aligned to School, Faculty and University priorities
* Lead business planning, business case development and continuous improvement initiatives
* Develop, manage and monitor budgets in consultation with Finance and senior leadership
* Act as the Head of School's delegate on operational matters and committees
* Build strong, collaborative relationships with internal service providers and external stakeholders
* Contribute to Faculty-wide initiatives and communities of practice under the direction of the Faculty General Manager

SELECTION CRITERIA
About you You are a confident and credible leader with substantial experience in senior business or operational management within a complex organisation. You bring a strategic mindset, strong financial acumen, and a collaborative leadership style, with the ability to influence, engage stakeholders and lead teams through change.
We are looking for:
* Relevant tertiary qualifications and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education training
* Substantial experience in a leadership and management role with demonstrated achievement of results through the tactical use of resources to support business needs.
* Demonstrated experience in business planning through detailed research and analysis on a range of issues and the ability to develop, implement and evaluate business improvement strategies.
* Demonstrated ability to manage and implement change.
* Demonstrated team leadership and management skills with the ability to create and maintain an effective customer focussed and efficient team culture
* A strong understanding of financial and budget management.
* Demonstrated high level communication and negotiation skills and the ability to resolve stakeholder concerns.
* Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage and influence others and a proven capacity to build and maintain effective and productive relationships with a wide range of internal and external groups
Desirable:
* A relevant postgraduate qualification
* Experience within the tertiary education sector
