Graduate wireless network engineer

Leafbrook Pty Ltd
Network Engineer
Posted: 16 December
Offer description

This isn't a passive graduate role where you sit on the sidelines. From early on, you'll be involved in real customer projects, working with enterprise Wi-Fi, RTLS, and BLE 5.1 technologies used in hospitals, universities, and large organisations.

You'll learn directly from experienced engineers, build practical skills that actually matter in the real world, and see your work deployed in live environments. If you're curious, hands-on, and want a career where your technical capability grows fast, this role gives you a genuine pathway into becoming a specialist wireless engineer.

Here is what we are looking for:

We are seeking a motivated University Graduate to join our technical team as a Graduate Wireless Network Engineer. This role is designed for someone at the beginning of their career who wants to build deep, hands-on expertise in enterprise Wi-Fi, wireless design, and BLE 5.1 (Bluetooth Direction Finding) RTLS technologies.

You will work alongside senior engineers and consultants, supporting Wi-Fi site surveys, network design activities, technical reporting, and solution delivery across healthcare, enterprise, and industrial environments. Over time, this role will develop into an independent design and consulting position.

This role suits someone who is technically curious, detail-oriented, and keen to learn by doing.

Wireless & Network Engineering Support

Assist with Wi-Fi site surveys (on-site and remote) using tools such as Ekahau.

Support the design of wireless networks, including access point placement and coverage planning.

* Participate in post-deployment validation and troubleshooting activities.
* Learn how enterprise Wi-Fi networks are designed, deployed, and optimised in real-world environments.

Reporting, Scripting & Technical Documentation

* Assist in preparing survey reports and technical documentation for customers and internal teams.
* Learn to develop and maintain basic scripts (for example, Python) to support reporting, data handling, or internal tools
* Help improve consistency and quality of technical deliverables.

RTLS & BLE 5.1 Exposure

* Support the deployment and testing of BLE 5.1 / Bluetooth Direction Finding RTLS solutions.
* Assist with system validation and performance checks in customer environments.
* Gain exposure to how RTLS integrates with enterprise Wi-Fi infrastructure.

Customer & Team Collaboration

* Work closely with senior engineers, Professional Services, and Sales teams.
* Attend customer meetings and site visits to observe and support technical engagements.
* Build confidence communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Got it. Below is a graduate-level rewrite, keeping the shape of the role you want long term, but scoped realistically for a University Graduate. This is positioned as an entry-level engineering role with a clear development pathway, not a watered-down admin job.

What We're Looking For

Essential

* Recent University degree in IT, Networking, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Strong interest in Wi-Fi, networking, and wireless technologies.
* Basic understanding of networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs, switching, routing).
* Willingness to travel occasionally for site surveys and on-site work.
* A genuine desire to learn and develop practical, hands-on skills.

Desirable (Not Required on Day One)

* Exposure to Wi-Fi concepts or fundamentals.
* Any experience with Ekahau or similar survey tools (even at university or lab level).
* Basic scripting or programming exposure (Python preferred).
* Awareness of IoT, RTLS, or location-based technologies.

Personal Attributes

* Curious, proactive, and keen to take ownership of learning.
* Detail-oriented and methodical in your work.
* Comfortable asking questions and learning from feedback.
* Able to work well in a team and follow structured processes.
* Professional, reliable, and customer-focused.

Development Path

This is a growth role. With the right attitude and capability, you will be trained and developed in:

* Advanced Wi-Fi design and troubleshooting
* Ekahau site surveys and professional reporting
* BLE 5.1 RTLS solution design
* Customer-facing technical consulting

The intent is for this role to evolve into a fully autonomous Wireless Network Design Engineer over time.
