Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Surface Heavy Duty Fitter to carry out maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a fleet of mining mobile plant operating in a surface mining environment. The role involves working on equipment from Caterpillar Inc. (CAT), Hitachi Construction Machinery, and Komatsu Ltd This position requires a strong safety focus, the ability to work autonomously, and experience maintaining large-scale mining equipment in demanding site conditions. Key Responsibilities Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, and scheduled component change-outs Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, powertrain, and electrical faults Conduct breakdown repairs in field and workshop environments Complete major component replacements (engines, transmissions, final drives, hydraulics) Conduct machine inspections and condition reporting Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and OEM documentation Accurately complete service reports and maintenance documentation Work collaboratively with supervisors, planners, and other trades Maintain high housekeeping and safety standards on site Equipment Experience (Preferred) CAT haul trucks (e.g., 777, 785, 789), loaders (988, 992), graders, and dozers Hitachi excavators (e.g., EX1200, EX2600, EX3600 series) Komatsu haul trucks (e.g., HD785, HD1500, 830E), excavators (PC1250, PC2000), and dozers Essential Requirements Trade qualified Heavy-Duty Fitter / Diesel Fitter (Cert III Engineering – Mechanical Trade) Demonstrated surface mining experience Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills Experience working on CAT, Hitachi, and Komatsu equipment Current driver’s licence Ability to pass site medical and drug & alcohol screening Commitment to safety and compliance with site procedures ✅ Requirements Australian-recognized Trade Certificate Current National Police Clearance Current Driver’s Licence ( Please note: applicants on a 482 visa or not residing in Australia cannot be considered. ) If you're interested in this role please reply with your resume to Valerie at Valerie.radford@etagroup.com.au or call me on 0433919353.
