Engineering Manager – Payments & Funding Platforms
Location: Melbourne (Hybrid)
Salary: $170,000 + Super
Bonus: 15%
Launch Recruitment is partnering with a leading payments organisation that has two exciting Engineering Manager opportunities available, following a double internal promotion. One role will lead the Modern Payments Platform, while the other will oversee the Funding Platform .
You'll work with cutting-edge technologies including containerised applications, event streaming via Kafka, infrastructure-as-code with Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines that enable true continuous delivery.
About the Role As the Engineering Manager of a high-performing Scrum team, you'll lead the delivery of scalable, resilient solutions capable of handling high data volumes while meeting demanding uptime SLAs. You'll tackle complex data engineering challenges and have the opportunity to directly influence the future architecture of a large-scale payments ecosystem.
How You'll Make an Impact
* Drive the technical vision and roadmap for your team's services, providing strong, hands-on technical leadership
* Write high-quality, production-ready code alongside your team, mentoring and leading by example
* Engage in pair programming, code reviews, and technical spikes to solve engineering challenges
* Manage and support a cross-functional Scrum team of five engineers in their professional development
* Implement advanced architectural patterns such as event sourcing, CQRS, and distributed tracing
* Lead continuous improvement initiatives across engineering processes and team operations
* Advocate for engineering excellence through measurable outcomes and best practices
Experience You'll Bring
* 10+ years of hands-on software development experience
* 2+ years in a leadership role managing software engineering teams
* Strong technical leadership in architecture, solution design, and cloud delivery
* Deep expertise in cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and automation
* Experience building data-intensive applications at scale (preferred)
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* Proven ability to foster collaborative, growth-oriented team cultures
* Background in financial or payment systems (preferred)
* Knowledge of microservices and distributed systems architecture (preferred)
Technology Stack
* Experience with .NET/C# and TypeScript
* Proficiency in cloud-native development including Kubernetes, Terraform, Terragrunt, and containerisation
* Familiarity with event streaming technologies like Kafka
* Understanding of modern frontend frameworks
* Strong grasp of CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code principles
* Solid knowledge of database technologies and data management practices
* Experience building scalable, data-intensive applications
