We are seeking applications from an experienced Warehouse, Inventory & Distribution Manager.
Position Summary
The Warehouse, Inventory & Distribution Manager is responsible for the end-to-end management of warehousing, inventory control, and distribution operations across three warehouses in Australia. Operating within a shipping and maritime supply environment specialising in ship spares, the role ensures the safe storage, accurate control, and timely delivery of critical parts to vessels and customers. The role operates in a time-critical environment and requires strong leadership, operational discipline, and compliance expertise. Regular domestic travel is essential to oversee warehouse operations, distribution partners, and regional logistics activities.
Responsibilities
Warehousing Operations
Manage and standardise day-to-day operations across three Australian warehouse sites
Oversee inbound and outbound activities including receiving, storage, picking, packing, and dispatch
Develop, implement, and maintain SOPs to ensure consistency, efficiency, and safety across all locations
Ensure warehouse layouts, storage methods, and material handling equipment support operational efficiency
Inventory Management
Maintain accurate inventory records across all sites using WMS/ERP system
Implement and manage cycle counts, stocktakes, and inventory audits
Investigate and resolve discrepancies, damages, obsolescence, and slow-moving stock
Optimise inventory levels to support vessel schedules and operational demand
Manage high-value, controlled, and time-sensitive ship spares
Distribution & Transport Management
Manage domestic and regional distribution using a combination of
In-house delivery trucks, External third-party logistics providers and Courier and express freight services
Coordinate deliveries to ports, vessels, agents, and customers to meet strict schedules
Monitor and improve OTIF (On Time In Full) performance
Manage transport costs, contracts, and service level agreements
Dangerous Goods & Compliance
Ensure safe storage, handling, segregation, and transport of Dangerous Goods in accordance with: ADG Code and IMDG Code and relevant maritime regulations
Maintain DG documentation, labelling, training, and compliance registers
Ensure warehouse and transport partners meet DG compliance and safety standards
Export Control & Security Compliance
Ensure compliance with export control regulations, including ITAR, EAR, and applicable Australian export control requirements
Implement access controls, secure storage, and audit readiness for controlled and sensitive items
Support internal and external audits related to export controls and security
Leadership & People Management
Lead, coach, and develop warehouse, inventory, and distribution teams across all sites (4 x direct reports)
Drive a safety-first culture and continuous improvement mindset
Manage workforce planning, labour productivity, and performance management
Conduct regular site visits and operational reviews across Australia and the Pacific region
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across warehousing, inventory accuracy, safety, and distribution performance
Develop and report KPIs including inventory accuracy, OTIF delivery, safety metrics, and cost efficiency
Support WMS/ERP enhancements and process improvements
Collaborate closely with procurement, shipping, customer service, and regional operations teams
Requirements, Knowledge, Skills
Experience & Skills
Minimum 7 years' experience in a similar warehouse, inventory, and distribution management role
Proven experience managing multiple warehouse sites
Strong experience managing mixed transport models (in-house fleet, 3PLs, couriers)
Demonstrated expertise in Dangerous Goods storage, handling, and transport
Experience in shipping, maritime logistics, defence, industrial spares, or other regulated supply chain environments highly regarded
Familiarity with ITAR, EAR, and export control frameworks beneficial
Strong working knowledge of WMS and ERP systems
Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Qualifications, Licenses & Clearances
Tertiary qualification in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or related discipline (desirable)
Dangerous Goods certification (or ability to obtain)
Forklift licence (or willingness to obtain)
Must be eligible to obtain Australian Baseline Defence Clearance
