Overview
The Tasmanian State Service (TSS) is the largest employer in Tasmania, with over 28,000 employees providing services to the community at all levels. The Launceston General Hospital is an accredited 450‐bed teaching hospital and the major referral hospital for Tasmania's North and North‐West. For many years it has delivered emergency, acute, specialist, inpatient and ambulatory care to Launceston and surrounding areas and is the largest employer in the region with around 2,300 staff.
Launceston General Hospital works in partnership with the University of Tasmania and other universities to provide clinical practice experience for students in medicine, nursing, allied health and pharmacy.
The Clifford Craig Foundation, the hospital's community arm, funds innovative medical research, education and equipment to improve the health of the region.
Details of Appointment
Fixed‐term full‐time day worker (with on‐call) position, up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a two‐year period. Hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant.
For a period of twelve months from publication this selection process may be used to fill similar full‐time, part‐time and casual vacancies.
Salary and Benefits
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1–Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3: $216,300 – $310,389 per annum (pro‐rata), 12 % superannuation, salary packaging.
Benefits include:

* Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or motor‐vehicle allowance of $28,786 per annum (pro‐rata).

* Travel and relocation assistance up to $15,000 for overseas appointees and $10,000 for interstate.

Eligibility (Qualifications)
Essential criteria:
* Specialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant speciality.
* Registration/licences must remain current and valid at all times while employed.
Desirable criteria:
* Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators (or working toward).
* Current driver's licence.
