The Role
We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to own the full lifecycle of mechanical design across a variety of exciting projects. You'll take project requirements and translate them into practical, compliant, and manufacturable solutions while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, suppliers, and stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
* Lead mechanical design from concept through to manufacture and installation.
* Translate project briefs into innovative engineering solutions, backed by calculations, modelling, and analysis.
* Develop 3D CAD models, assemblies, and detailed drawings ready for production.
* Perform mechanical calculations and simulations to ensure designs are safe, functional, and reliable.
* Apply design-for-manufacture and assembly principles to optimise efficiency and buildability.
* Collaborate with project managers, electrical engineers, industrial designers, and operations teams to deliver integrated solutions.
* Review and validate supplier designs, components, and materials to ensure compliance with standards and project requirements.
* Maintain engineering governance through documented calculations, revision control, and auditable reports.
* Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, workflows, and tools.
* Ensure all designs meet Australian Standards, WHS requirements, and safety-in-design principles.
About You
You are a technically strong, independent mechanical engineer who enjoys seeing your designs come to life in the real world. You thrive in a collaborative environment where you can mentor others and shape engineering processes.
You bring:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* 3–8+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience.
* Proven ability with 3D CAD (SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar) and detailed manufacturing drawings.
* Experience performing mechanical calculations and simulations.
* Knowledge of Australian Standards and WHS compliance.
* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
* Experience in materials selection, specification, and supplier engagement.
