The Position
The General Counsel (GC) is a member of CASA's Executive Leadership Team, managing the Legal Division and supporting the Chief Executive Office / Director of Aviation Safety with high-level strategic and tactical legal advice. The GC influences aviation safety outcomes, supports compliance with relevant legislation, and leads legal and regulatory best practice across CASA. The GC will represent CASA and the CEO/DAS at a senior level in formal and informal engagement with industry, government, other National Aviation Authorities, the legal fraternity and the wider community.
The key duties of the position include
To be eligible you will have:
- Extensive relevant senior legal management experience.
- High level understanding of contemporary regulatory theory and practical enforcement methodologies appropriate to a modern and evolving civil aviation environment.
- Knowledge of Australian civil aviation legislation and a good understanding of the related legal and legislative regimes in North America and Europe would be highly regarded.
The role is based in Canberra and may require interstate and overseas travel.
