Service technician – mechanical

Melbourne Trenchless Support
Posted: 30 January
Offer description

About the role

We're a specialist workshop servicing and repairing trenchless plumbing equipment, including high-pressure jetters, sewer cameras and related systems. The work is hands-on, varied, and detail-focused.

We're looking for a reliable technician with strong mechanical skills and some electronics capability who takes pride in neat, methodical work and can see jobs through with a high attention to detail.

This role starts as a 3-month full-time casual trial. If we're a good fit for each other, the role will move to permanent full-time.

What you'll be doing

Electronics / camera work:

* Basic electronics fault-finding
* Soldering and cable repairs
* Connector and loom repairs
* Module swaps and bench testing
* Following documented repair procedures (no guesswork)

Mechanical / equipment work:

* Servicing and repairing jetters, pumps, hoses, fittings and frames
* Strip, inspect, clean, rebuild and test equipment
* Small engine servicing and fault-finding (petrol/diesel)
* Using hand tools daily (spanners, screwdrivers, drills, etc.)

Workflow & ownership:

* Progress jobs end-to-end
* Update job statuses clearly
* Pack and ship completed jobs
* Keep your workspace and documentation tidy

Must haves (non-negotiable)

* Lives locally (reasonable commute to outer east Melbourne)
* Confident using general hand tools
* Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
* Comfortable following procedures and checklists
* Reliable, punctual, and calm under pressure

The above is essential, on the job training will be provided.

Strong advantage

* Electronics knowledge (even at a basic / practical level)
* Soldering experience
* Small engine or mechanical repair background
* Experience fault-finding rather than just swapping parts

Trial structure

This role begins as a 3-month full-time casual position to ensure the role is the right fit for both sides.

The hourly rate will remain the same if the role converts to permanent full-time employment.

Who this role suits

* A hands-on technician who enjoys fixing things to a high standard
* A mechanic or service tech with electronics exposure
* Someone currently available and ready to start work
* Someone who wants stability once the fit is proven

How to apply

Please include:

* A short summary of your experience
* The type of mechanical and/or electronics work you've done
* Your suburb (or approximate location)
* Your availability to start

Bonus:

Tell us about a fault you diagnosed where attention to detail mattered.
