Overview
Glenorchy City Council is seeking a proactive and dedicated Multi-skilled Worker to join our Parks & Recreation team. This role is key to ensuring the maintenance, safety, and visual appeal of our public parks, recreational spaces, and playgrounds.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for people who enjoy working outdoors across the region. You will perform a variety of tasks including playground inspections, mowing, vegetation control, landscaping, and general parks maintenance. You'll also operate machinery and equipment safely and provide support to other Works Centre staff when needed.
This is an excellent opportunity to contribute directly to the health and wellbeing of our community by helping to deliver safe, attractive, and accessible public spaces.
To be successful in this role, you’ll have practical experience in parks and open space maintenance, with the ability to safely operate and maintain a range of plant and equipment. A strong understanding of workplace health and safety, the ability to follow procedures, and a high level of physical fitness are essential. You’ll also bring good communication skills, a team-focused attitude, and the flexibility to adapt to changing tasks and environments.
Position Hours: Full time, 76 hours per fortnight
Essential
What You’ll Bring
- A qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Certificate III in Horticulture) or demonstrated experience in a similar role
- Medium Rigid Truck “MR” Class licence (or the ability to obtain)
- Traffic Management Accreditation or the ability to obtain on commencement of employment
- White Card or the ability to obtain on commencement of employment
- Chemical Application Accreditation
