Mipac is seeking an experienced Lead Control Systems Engineer to take technical ownership of complex international control systems projects, including overseas site work during FATs, commissioning and critical project delivery phases.
This role suits senior engineers who want responsibility, operate under pressure, and enjoy leading technical delivery in ambiguous, high‐stakes environments. It requires a genuine willingness to undertake extended international site assignments (up to 6 weeks at a time). You will operate as a trusted technical authority, representing Mipac professionally with clients, vendors and site teams, while contributing to the development of engineering capability within project teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as technical authority for PLC, SCADA and DCS design, configuration, integration and commissioning across international projects.
* Lead and represent Mipac during client meetings, FATs, commissioning and site delivery, often in high‐pressure or ambiguous environments.
* Provide clear and confident technical leadership, applying sound judgement to resolve technical issues while maintaining respectful, constructive relationships with employees, clients, vendors and site teams.
* Approach client engagements with a service‐focused mindset, prioritising practical, long‐term solutions over purely transactional delivery.
* Provide clear, professional advice to clients, maintaining strong working relationships built on trust.
* Mentor and develop engineers, building and increasing capability.
* Model calm, professional leadership, recognising the influence senior engineers have on team capability and behaviour.
* Ensure design, configuration, FAT, commissioning and site activities align with Mipac and client technical standards, governance requirements and agreed delivery approaches.
About You
* Demonstrates experience delivering industrial control systems in complex environments.
* Brings deep hands‐on experience across PLC and SCADA platforms (Rockwell, Siemens, Yokogawa, Schneider or similar).
* Has led or played key roles in FATs, commissioning and site delivery, ideally including international or remote sites.
* Is comfortable working in situations with ambiguity, competing priorities and operational pressure.
* Can resolve technical issues while remaining measured, respectful and solutions‐focused.
* Sees engineering as a professional service, taking responsibility not just for technical correctness but for how solutions land with clients and operators long term.
* Enjoys developing other engineers, sharing knowledge to improve work quality.
* Holds Australian working rights and is able to travel internationally.
* RPEQ, CPEng or willingness to pursue registration.
* Experience in mining, energy or heavy industrial projects.
