Today SpaceX is actively developing the technologies to make this possible, with the ultimate goal ofenabling human life on Mars.LAUNCH OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN - NIGHTSHIFT (STARSHIP)The launch operations technician is responsible for the integration of all secondary structure, avionics, and stage propulsion components and systems into the vehicle's primary structure. The task requires both avionics and mechanical integration skills along with pneumatic and avionics checkout activity.RESPONSIBILITIES:Stage, set up, assemble, test, and install flight hardwareUse precision calibrated toolsProvide hands-on operations with both largeand small fragile assembliesOversee heavy rigging for large assembliesOperate personnel platforms (boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.)Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructionsPerform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructionsUse various mechanical tools without prior instructionCollaborate with production engineers to develop and document integration processesEnsure all production services are performed on time, safely, and in a professional mannerPerform fluids and pneumatic testingBASIC QUALIFICATIONS:High school diploma or equivalency certificate2+ years of professional propulsion, mechanical, automotive, electrical, or avionics hardware installation experience (experience from a 2+ year technical college program counts)PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Federal Aviation Administration Airframe and Powerplant licenseExperience in the aerospace industry, aviation, military, or other high-reliability operating environmentExperience with forklifts, cranes, and heavy transport equipmentKnowledge of pressure, temperature, and flow measurement devices, mechanical and electrical systems, and propulsion enginesSkill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterityAbility to use precision measuring instrumentsAbility to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environmentProficient with computers and the ability to use Microsoft OfficeAbility to work effectively in a team environmentADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:The ability to lift heavy objects is required in this position (up to 25lbs unassisted)The ability to travel for short and extended trips as needed. Up to 30% travelFlight hardware typically is built in tight quarters and physical dexterity is necessary to perform job functionsMust be available to work overtime and weekends as needed based on site priority; flexibility requiredStandard hours for this shift are Sunday - Wednesday 6:00 PM - 6:00 AMITAR REQUIREMENTS:To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. * 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. * 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
