Role Overview
We are looking for a bilingual solicitor to join our growing Sydney office. While the role will touch on a variety of legal practice areas, the primary focus will be on commercial law, property law, and family law. This is an excellent opportunity for a legal professional who thrives in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and is looking to develop a broad-based legal practice with a strong emphasis on servicing Chinese-speaking clients.
Key Responsibilities:
· Prepare and draft legal documents and conduct negotiations on behalf of clients on matters associated with the law.
· Provide legal advice and conduct commercial transactions, including contracts, business structuring, shareholder arrangements, and general corporate matters.
· Represent clients in court.
· Assist clients in property-related matters, including sales, purchases, leases, and development transactions.
· Manage family law cases, including divorce, property settlements, parenting matters, and binding financial agreements.
· Draft and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, affidavits, and court documents.
· Liaise with clients, ensuring culturally appropriate and professional communication.
· Conduct legal research and prepare written advice for clients and internal use.
Essential Requirements:
· Admission as a Solicitor in an Australian jurisdiction, with a valid practising certificate.
· At least 1–2 years of post-admission experience (PAE), preferably in commercial law, property law, or family law.
· Fluency in both English and Mandarin (written and spoken) is preferable, with the ability to communicate professionally with clients in both languages.
· Strong legal research, drafting, and client advisory skills.
· A legal education or prior legal work experience in China is highly desirable.
· Ability to manage multiple matters independently and work collaboratively within a team.
· Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
