Position Vacancy: AOD Support Worker
Location: Galong, NSW (Regional) Employment Type: Full-Time
The Role
Are you a dedicated professional who believes in the power of community to transform lives? We are looking for an AOD Support Worker to be the 'on-the-ground' heart of our residential program.
In this role, you are a facilitator of change. You will work alongside our residents in a therapeutic community setting, guiding them through their day to day responsibilties while providing the essential support needed to sustain long-term recovery.
Key Responsibilities
* Actively participate in and oversee the daily operations of the therapeutic community, including morning meetings, communal meals, and chores.
* Observe residents during activities of daily living, facilitating 'teachable moments' during program-based tasks and shared responsibilities.
* Assist with medication supervision, conduct risk assessments, and maintain high-quality clinical documentation.
* Lead or co-facilitate workshops on the therapeutic community method, relapse prevention, and parenting courses.
* Provide immediate support and de-escalation for residents experiencing emotional or behavioural challenges.
* Undertake occasional case management and intake duties.
* Observe Farm in Galong policies and procedures including all privacy and confidentiality requirements
Selection Criteria
Essential:
* Minimum Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs or Mental Health (or nearing completion).
* Demonstrated experience working in a residential setting or a strong understanding of the Therapeutic Community (TC) model.
* Ability to work from a trauma-informed, person-centred framework with an understanding of the complexities of addiction.
* The emotional intelligence and physical stamina to work in a dynamic, rural residential environment.
* Current valid Driver's License and a cleared Working with Children Check (WWCC).
