Job Title: Civil Works Operator - Unsealed Roads
Location: Local Council
Employment Type: Casual (38hrs a week, with potential for full-time permanent positions)
About the Role:
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Civil Works Operator to join our Council team, working primarily on the construction and maintenance of unsealed roads. This hands-on role involves operating a range of plant and equipment to support road maintenance programs and ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality outcomes for the community.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining rural and regional road networks, contributing to essential infrastructure that supports local residents and industries. Key Responsibilities:
* Operate and maintain plant and equipment including agricultural tractors, rollers, backhoes, and front-end loaders
* Carry out grading, shaping, and general maintenance of unsealed roads
* Perform routine inspections and basic servicing of machinery
* Work collaboratively with team members to deliver scheduled works programs
* Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and Council policies
* Assist with general labouring duties as required
Key Requirements:
* Demonstrated experience operating agricultural tractors, rollers, backhoes, and front-end loaders
* Minimum Medium Rigid (MR) driver’s licence
* Heavy Rigid (HR) or Heavy Combination (HC) licence highly desirable
* Strong understanding of road maintenance practices, particularly unsealed roads
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
* Commitment to workplace health and safety
* Good communication skills and a proactive work ethic
