Byron Shire Council is currently seeking an enthusiastic Strategic Contracts and Procurement Coordinator. The position plays a key role in leveraging and maximising benefits from whole-of-council strategic initiatives that harness best practice contract management principles and procurement expenditure to minimise total costs to the organisation and maximise value add (economic, social, environmental) outcomes to identified priority areas. The position also develops and communicates standards for contract management and procurement capability, processes, systems and governance, and coordinates the provision of expertise and support to Business Units. Some specific tasks include: Providing leadership and expert advice for procurement and contract management processes, including the development and communication of robust guidelines, procedures, templates, technologies and innovations. Promoting the coordination of Council's total spend and encouraging cooperation between stakeholders to adopt consistent procurement behaviour and strategies. Ensuring procurement strategies are appropriate for the risk and opportunity in spend categories, including developing and maintaining close working relationships with strategic supply markets. Measuring the contribution of procurement systems to the achievement of savings and sustainability objectives and report regularly to the Executive Team. Developing a standard contract management framework and methodology and oversee deployment and implementation across the organisation. Coordinating the development of, and compliance with, approved supplier panels and common-use contracts. Coordinating Council's contract databases and legislative reporting requirements relating to contracts. The successful candidate will meet the criteria set out in the Position Description below.
