The Role
As Team Leader – Cape York Leaders Program (CYLP), you will guide and oversee the academic, wellbeing and leadership development of talented Indigenous students across Brisbane, Rockhampton, Townsville and Cairns.
You will supervise Student Support Officers (SSOs), ensure high-quality case management, strengthen school partnerships and lead key program events and recruitment activities.
This role is central to ensuring that every CYLP student receives safe, culturally grounded and academically focused support, enabling them to thrive in high-quality education settings.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide structured supervision, coaching and oversight to SSOs.
* Manage student case monitoring including wellbeing, engagement and academic progress.
* Coordinate academic supports, tutoring and intervention programs across multiple regions.
* Lead the annual CYLP recruitment cycle including assessments, interviews and family engagement.
* Plan and deliver leadership activities including Leadership Camp, Next Steps Conference and regional term events.
* Maintain strong relationships with partner schools and key education stakeholders.
* Oversee program data, compliance, KPI monitoring and reporting obligations.
What You'll Need
* Experience in program coordination, student support or case management – ideally within education or youth development.
* Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff.
* Strong understanding of student wellbeing and academic monitoring.
* Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with schools, families and community organisations.
* Strong organisational and program coordination capabilities.
* Experience with data management, reporting and maintaining accurate records.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Current Driver Licence, Working with Children Blue Card and ability to complete a Police Check.
* Experience working in boarding school or secondary education environments.
* Knowledge of Cape York communities and education pathways.
* Experience coordinating youth programs, camps or engagement activities.
* Qualifications in education, youth work, social work or community development.
