On behalf of our client, a highly respected, independent not-for-profit aged care provider in the Port Broughton region, we are seeking a compassionate Aged or Disabled Carer. Our client is renowned as “the heart of country care,” proudly supporting older South Australians in regional communities with safe, caring, and inclusive living environments. They provide residential aged care, retirement living, and home care options, focusing on holistic wellbeing and empowering residents to make choices about their life, support, and care.
We are looking for a carer who will help develop respectful, warm, and genuine relationships with residents and their loved ones, ensuring everyone is valued and everyone matters. Key Duties Documentation & Observation
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation including daily notes, care assessments, and individualised care plans aligned with residents’ needs and preferences.
* Observe, report, and document any changes in resident requirements (physical, emotional, or cognitive), promptly communicating concerns to the clinical team.
Personal Care & Independence
* Support residents’ independence by providing appropriate assistance with personal hygiene, dressing, and grooming in accordance with their care plans and mutual respect.
* Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and walking, using safe handling techniques and equipment as required.
Household & Environmental Duties
* Ensure clean linen is maintained, make residents’ beds, and accurately deliver laundered clothing to residents’ rooms.
* Maintain a clean, safe, and homelike environment, adhering to all OH&S policies and procedures.
Meal & Nursing Support
* Assist with serving meals, supporting residents during mealtimes with feeding, hydration, and social engagement as required.
* Help deliver specialised nursing care needs for residents (e.g., medication prompts, wound care assistance) under appropriate supervision.
Communication, Rights & Emotional Support
* Liaise with staff, residents, visitors, GPs, and allied health professionals to provide prompt, friendly, and coordinated service.
* Act to protect residents’ rights including confidentiality, privacy, individual choice, and decision-making, and provide genuine emotional support and companionship.
Teamwork & Compliance
* Actively participate in the care team environment, build and maintain effective relationships, and ensure compliance against Aged Care
Quality Standards.
* Attend meetings, identify self-education needs, participate in safety/improvement activities, and report areas of risk or complaints.
* Comply with all legislation and EEO principles, promoting a workplace free from bullying and harassment.
Skills & Requirements
* Minimum 1 year full-time on-the-job experience in aged or disability care.
* Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing/Disability) or equivalent relevant qualification.
* Satisfactory police check (no disclosures), current driver’s licence, and own transportation.
* Full COVID-19 immunisation and annual flu vaccination (with statutory declaration regarding overseas criminal history if required).
