Wanneroo Veterinary Service Trust – Wanneroo WA
Wanneroo Veterinary Hospital | Perth's Northern Suburbs
An opportunity is opening up (Early April) at our privately owned, long-established small animal hospital in Perth's northern suburbs. We are seeking an experienced (minimum 4 years), Cert IV qualified and registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team in a near full-time capacity.
This is a rewarding and varied role suited to a nurse who enjoys surgical nursing, values strong client communication, and takes pride in working collaboratively within a supportive and accountable team.
Who Are We?
Wanneroo Veterinary Hospital has been caring for the local community since 1978. We are a busy, well-established small animal hospital with a large and loyal client base — many of whom we have cared for across generations.
Our team currently consists of 8 veterinarians, 10 nurses and 3 dedicated reception staff. We are committed to maintaining a high clinical standard while fostering a culture of support, collaboration and continual improvement.
We are proud to have been recognised as a Lincoln Institute "Employer of Choice", reflecting our commitment to leadership, professional development and career growth.
What Makes This Opportunity Special?
* Exposure to all aspects of general practice nursing
* Strong involvement in surgical nursing and anaesthetic monitoring
* Rotational responsibilities including theatre, hospital and reception
* 4-week rotating roster with variety across shifts
* No after-hours work
* Wages paid well above award (based on experience and attitude)
* Ongoing continuing education encouraged and supported
* No two days are the same — and we believe that's part of what makes general practice rewarding.
The Role
* Monitoring anaesthesia and assisting in surgery
* Assisting with radiography and diagnostic procedures
* Nursing hospitalised patients including IV catheter placement, fluid therapy and blood collection
* Conducting in-house laboratory testing (IDEXX experience advantageous but not essential)
* Nurse consults, patient admissions and discharges
* Assisting veterinarians with examinations and treatments
* Providing clear, compassionate communication to clients
* Reception duties including phone triage and client support
* Opening and closing the hospital as rostered
We value nurses who take initiative, communicate confidently and contribute positively to workflow and patient care.
What We're Looking For
* Hold a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing – minimum 4 years surgical experience.
* Be registered with the Veterinary Practice Board of WA
* Have strong surgical and anaesthetic monitoring skills
* Demonstrate excellent client communication and customer service skills
* Be reliable, accountable and proactive
* Work well within a collaborative team environment
* Have solid computer skills (Cornerstone experience highly regarded but not essential)
Flexibility is important, as the role operates within a structured 4-week roster. You will be supported by an experienced and well-resourced team.
If you are looking to join a long-standing, community-focused hospital where your skills are valued and your professional growth is supported, we would love to hear from you.
