About The Team

When you join the Infrastructure Projects team, you'll join a group of professionals delivering Australia's future rail network. To help grow rail transport in Australia, the team is focused on ensuring the delivery of critical construction projects across the country, including implementation of our $1 billion Network Investment Program that we've developed with the Australian Government. Whether it's designing, building or maintaining crucial rail infrastructure, the team plays a pivotal role in our ongoing efforts to improve network resilience and keep the future of freight on track.

About The Opportunity

To provide construction supervision, inspection, and quality assurance support across signalling and multi-discipline infrastructure projects to ensure work complies with design specifications, safety and environmental regulations, contract documents, and agreed timelines. This role supports effective delivery through regular site monitoring, stakeholder engagement, defect identification, and contractor performance oversight

The Responsibilities Include


* Perform regular site inspections and verifications to ensure construction activities comply with contract specifications, quality standards, and WHS obligations.
* Act as ARTCs Representative when delegated, including contract administration duties such as site instructions, verifying progress claims, managing RFIs and issuing certificates.
* Review construction drawings, technical specifications and documentation to verify alignment with site implementation.
* Maintain accurate and timely records of inspections, tests, daily site activities, non-conformances, safety observations, and contractor performance.
* Monitor contractor safety practices and implementation of approved WHS documentation and site-specific controls.
* Identify and report construction defects or issues, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and documented.
* Liaise with Project Managers/Engineers, Operations, Engineering, Safety, and external stakeholders to ensure effective handovers, commissioning and site readiness.
* Support implementation of commissioning plans, asset handover documentation, and final close-out activities.
* Contribute to lessons learned, contractor performance evaluations and continuous improvement practices across the project lifecycle.
* Provide constructability and scoping input to projects in development.
* Promote a culture of accountability, quality, environmental compliance and safety on-site.

What do we want from you?

Essential Selection Criteria
* Certificate IV in Electrical Rail Signalling or equivalent
* Relevant technical qualification or equivalent practical experience
* Driver's licence – Class C
* At least 5 years' experience in infrastructure construction, supervision or inspection roles
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and construction documentation
* Proven knowledge of safety, environmental and quality control procedures
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent interpersonal, coordination and conflict resolution abilities
* High attention to detail and record keeping
* Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
* Sound knowledge of WH&S, Rail Safety and Environmental regulations

Desirable Selection Criteria
* Formal inspection or quality auditing training
* Statement of Competency with Signal Electrician/Maintainer or equivalent – ARTC
* Work Health and Safety General Induction ("White Card")
* Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card
* Experience on brownfield or greenfield rail projects
* Understanding of commissioning and handover processes
* Experience in iAuditor or equivalent digital inspection tools
* Familiarity with government procurement, contract management systems
