Head of Sales – FMCG Digital Engagement Platform

$140,000 plus super and an outstanding comms plan

Are you an experienced sales professional with a hunter mentality, ready to jump in immediately, secure new business, and develop scalable sales operations from the ground up? Our client seeks a Head of Sales – FMCG Digital Engagement Platform to propel their next growth phase and create the groundwork for an exceptional sales team.

The Role:

Reporting directly to the CEO, the Head of Sales will assume a hands-on, critical role in directing the overall go-to-market approach. During this early-growth stage, you'll personally manage the complete sales cycle, from prospect identification to deal closure, while developing the sales strategy, model, and team.

This position is perfect for a motivated, entrepreneurial salesperson who excels at execution and is enthusiastic about creating something significant from the start and seeing it through to scale. Energy, industry savvy, keen networking abilities, and a true love of their work is what our client is looking for.

*Please note that this is a full-time, on-site position in inner Melbourne. This position is seen as crucial to the expansion of the organisation and as such our client prefers a close knit on-site team. Initially it’s anticipated that the majority of your time will be spent in the office, however there will be a number of industry events to attend, including interstate.


What You'll Do:


Phase 1: Execution & Ownership (First 6 Months)

Assume complete responsibility for the sales cycle including prospecting, outreach, presenting, and closing

Act as the company’s representative at events and networking occasions

Establish robust relationships with senior FMCG marketers and brand decision-makers

Create scalable sales processes and CRM frameworks to support future expansion


Phase 2: Team Building & Expansion

Recruit, onboard, and manage an expanding team of 6 to 10 sales professionals

Execute and refine your sales model to ensure consistent performance

Manage team culture, performance, and ongoing improvement

Extend operations beyond Australia into global markets


What We're Looking For

Sales Hunter – Motivated by securing new business and excelling in a high-activity, results-oriented environment

Startup Mindset – Ready to work hands-on and lead by example in a lean, agile team

Leadership Capability – Experience developing or managing high-performing sales teams with coaching abilities for results

Retail Media Expertise – Comprehensive understanding of the retail media environment, including trade marketing, shopper marketing, and omnichannel activation

Digital Marketing Knowledge – Understanding of performance marketing, MarTech solutions, attribution models, and brand media spend allocation

FMCG Experience or Network – Comfortable communicating with brand managers and CMOs; existing FMCG or CPG industry relationships are advantageous

Data and Insights Orientation – Capable of selling data-driven value propositions and demonstrating how shopper data, analytics, and loyalty tools provide measurable business results

Strategic and Execution-Focused – Skilled at developing and effectively implementing go-to-market strategies

The package offers a highly competitive base salary with uncapped commission, providing realistic on-target earnings that reflect the strong revenue potential of the role. As you demonstrate strong performance, there is scope for a significant increase in base salary and earning potential, along with performance-based equity options to share in the company’s long-term success.
