About the Role
Head of Humanities
St Aloysius’ College is seeking a dynamic and experienced educator to lead the Humanities department as Head of Humanities.
This role involves overseeing the development, innovation, and delivery of the Humanities curriculum for students in Years 7-12. As Head of Humanities, you will lead both academic and administrative functions within the department, while motivating, mentoring, and inspiring teachers through contemporary and innovative teaching practices.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced educational leader, or someone with recent leadership experience or leadership aspirations, who is committed to ongoing professional development. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in one or more of the following subject areas: Economics, Geography, Legal Studies, Business Studies, and Commerce.
The ideal candidate will be familiar with working in a high-achieving environment, with a proven ability to foster a culture of professionalism, articulate strategic goals, and promote a collaborative, inclusive approach to improving academic performance and student outcomes.
This is a full-time leadership position, initially offered on a three-year contract, with the opportunity for the successful candidate to begin at the start of Term IV, 13 October 2025.

About You
To be considered for this position, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate:
* Commitment to the mission of Catholic education of boys in the Jesuit tradition;
* Strong understanding of the educational needs of boys and young men;
* Deep expertise and qualifications in teaching one or more of the following subject areas: Economics, Geography, Legal Studies, Business Studies and Commerce;
* Strong understanding of relevant curriculum requirements, particularly of Humanities subjects, of the NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA);
* Experience in leading, or assisting the leadership of a collaborative culture of professional learning to support best practices in teaching and the achievement of outstanding learning outcomes;
* Demonstrated experience in leading innovative practice, informed by current educational research;
* Experience or demonstrated capacity to motivate, mentor and identify professional needs of staff and contribute to regular formative feedback in line with College practice;
* Demonstrated leadership experience in the implementation and monitoring of policies and programs to ensure compliance with school operations, including safeguarding children, WHS, budgeting and data-informed decision-making;
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills;
* Commitment to participate in the College’s co-curricular and pastoral programs.
* Strong commitment to safeguarding principles;
* Possess a valid Working with Children Check.
