About the Business
Da Orlando Pizzeria is a well-established full-service Italian restaurant located in central Wollongong. The restaurant offers dine-in table service and is known for its authentic Roman-style pizzas, handmade pasta, fresh antipasti, and traditional Italian desserts. All dishes are prepared on-site using fresh ingredients in a commercial kitchen environment. Da Orlando is not a takeaway or fast-food venue and operates as a premium dine-in restaurant with a liquor licence and curated wine list.
The Role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will work closely with the Head Chef and senior kitchen staff to prepare and deliver high-quality Italian cuisine for dine-in service.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing and cooking a range of Italian dishes including pasta, pizzas, mains, and entrees
Handling food preparation tasks such as cutting, marinating, portioning, and plating
Operating kitchen equipment including ovens, grills, fryers, and pizza ovens
Maintaining consistency and presentation standards for all dishes
Monitoring food quality, freshness, and storage procedures
Following food safety and hygiene standards at all times
Assisting with daily kitchen operations during lunch and dinner service
Supporting menu execution for regular service and special functions
Working collaboratively with other kitchen staff in a fast-paced environment
Skills and Experience
Minimum 2–3 years of experience working as a Cook in a commercial kitchen
Experience in Italian cuisine is highly regarded
Ability to work under pressure during peak service times
Strong understanding of food safety and kitchen hygiene practices
Good knife skills and attention to detail
Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
Qualifications
AQF Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent, or
At least 3 years of relevant full-time experience as a Cook
