Job Title: Gas Meter Reader
Overview:
The role of the Gas Meter Reader involves accurately reading gas meters, recording usage, inspecting meters and connections for defects and damage, and reporting irregularities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Safely navigate properties to gas meter locations, avoiding hazards onsite and update hazard information for future meter readers
* Report all encounters of gas meter leaks, damaged, vandalized, and unsafe meter installations, tampering with meters and address errors
* Enter properties to read installed gas meters and leave the property in the state it was found
* Ensure all dealings with the public are professional and polite
* Ensure a high standard of personal presentation at all times and ensure to wear supplied PPE
* Accurately read meters for gas distributors on behalf of gas retailers and fulfill contracted duties daily
* Occasionally complete car-based routes that require driving onto properties to obtain reads, including along busy roads and highways
Requirements:
* Ability to work independently
* Enjoy working outdoors (rain, hail, or shine)
* Good physical ability to walk long hours (30km a day)
* Ability to meet strict deadlines
* Highly focused on safety with a high level of attention to detail
* On time and reliable
* Valid driver's license and access to a car
* Highly committed and motivated
