Job Description
This role offers a unique blend of technical and practical experience, with opportunities to work on various transport infrastructure projects across Queensland. As a Graduate Civil Engineer, you'll be responsible for assisting in the planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of transport infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and public transportation systems.
You'll have the opportunity to engage in routine maintenance programs, rehabilitation, and resurfacing projects, as well as participate in contract management and collaborate with other teams on delivery and emergency response.
In this role, you'll also contribute to traffic management initiatives, including signal optimization, congestion mitigation, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS). Additionally, you'll have the chance to engage in research, project planning, stakeholder management, and technical documentation.
Your responsibilities will include supporting the management of project team resources to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of construction and maintenance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in delivering the Queensland Transport Infrastructure Program (QTRIP) and managing investments
* Participate in routine maintenance, rehabilitation, and resurfacing programs
* Support contract management and collaborate with other teams on delivery and emergency response
* Contribute to traffic management initiatives, including signal optimization, congestion mitigation, and ITS
* Engage in research, project planning, stakeholder management, and technical documentation
Specialisations and Development
In this role, you'll have opportunities to specialize in areas such as road safety, asset management, geotechnical, hydrology, traffic engineering, and ITS. You'll also be part of a rotational development plan that includes elements of planning, design, project delivery, maintenance, governance, and safety management.
The plan includes mentoring, job shadowing, site visits, and formal training aligned with our project management framework. This will help you develop your skills and expertise in civil engineering and prepare you for future leadership roles.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Bachelor of Civil Engineering (4-year Washington Accord) completed within the last 3 years, or
* Bachelor of Civil Engineering (4-year Washington Accord) and relevant post-graduate qualification completed within the last 12 months, or
* If your Bachelor's degree was completed at a University which was not part of the Washington Accord for any part of the period you studied, you will need to provide evidence from Engineers Australia that your skills and knowledge meet the same standard for your application to be considered.
