About the Opportunity We are seeking a part time, community grounded Aboriginal Health Worker to join the Sustaining NSW Families (SNF) Plus team. This role is central to ensuring the delivery of culturally safe, respectful, and responsive care to Aboriginal children and families within the local community. Working within the SNF Plus team, this position primarily operates in a consultative capacity, providing cultural guidance relevant to Aboriginal families in the local area.
You will also support home visits (as required), working with the family and clinicians to establish and strengthen therapeutic relationships with mothers and families, enabling effective delivery of the SNF Plus program.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide cultural consultation and advice to the SNF Plus team regarding culturally safe engagement and responsive care for Aboriginal families.
* Support home visits in building culturally respectful and therapeutic relationships during home visits.
* Act as a liaison between the SNF Plus team and local Aboriginal community organisations and Aboriginal health services.
* Promote the values and benefits of the SNF Plus program within local Aboriginal community network.
* Guide staff on best practice in culturally competent healthcare, including cultural beliefs, health perspectives, and community considerations relevant to Aboriginal communities.
* Deliver cultural consultation and support to non-Aboriginal staff working with Aboriginal children and families, strengthening culturally safe and responsive service delivery.

* You are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person with strong cultural connections and understanding.
* You demonstrate experience providing culturally safe support to women, children, and families.
* You have excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with families and services.
* You understand the impacts of intergenerational trauma on Aboriginal maternal and child health.
* You hold a current driver’s licence, Working with Children Check, and National Criminal Record Check.
