The Opportunity
Downer's Energy & Utilities business is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Senior Buyer to support the successful delivery of procurement activities across a portfolio of projects and contracts. Reporting to the Procurement Manager or Lead, you'll be an integral part of our procurement function, working closely with delivery teams and suppliers to ensure materials and services are sourced effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with Downer's standards.
You will be joining a collaborative and high-performing team focused on quality outcomes, safety, and continuous improvement. Your contribution will directly support the successful execution of projects in sectors that deliver essential services to communities across Australia and New Zealand.
What You'll Do
* Manage sourcing, purchasing, and contracting activities across projects and contracts
* Support the development and execution of procurement plans aligned with project goals
* Maintain compliance with Downer procurement policies and systems (P2P, DFA, Felix, JDEGS)
* Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, contractors, and delivery teams
* Identify and manage procurement risks while contributing to cost optimisation initiatives

What We're Looking For
We're seeking a motivated and process-driven procurement professional who brings both technical knowledge and collaborative spirit to the team.
* Bachelor's degree in procurement, supply chain, engineering, or a related field
* 5+ years' experience in procurement or supply chain, ideally in construction, energy, or utilities
* Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., JDEGS, Felix, Dynamics) and Microsoft Office
* Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills
* A detail-oriented, proactive mindset and the ability to juggle competing priorities
