$45.05ph - $48.47ph + Super + Salary Packaging

Your new role

Our Early Years Centres are community hubs offering child health services, supported playgroups, family support and early childhood education. We focus on early intervention and prevention to ultimately empower children and families. We are a supportive, multidisciplinary team with a broad range of early childhood teachers and educators, social workers, child health nurses and allied health qualified professionals committed to high quality work providing wrap around early intervention services.

We work across our 3 Early Years Centres located at Browns Plains, Acacia Ridge and Beaudesert. If you thrive in a collaborative environment and enjoy working closely with teams and partners to empower children and families to achieve their goals, this role is for you.

Duties

Provide timely and effective contact, advice, and referral services to the community and clients as our first point of contact.
Support clients over the phone, virtually, or in-person and provide intervention and support.
Work with a range of designated clients on a short-term basis, to undertake comprehensive assessments to develop, implement, monitor, and review their client plan outcomes, identify strengths and risks, and ensuring client engagement.
Undertake psychosocial assessments to identify effective information and support.
Explore options with clients to support them to make informed choices to address their immediate needs.
Engage clients using age and situation-appropriate assessment and risk-minimisation processes, especially where there is risk of harm, family violence, or other child-protection concerns.
Depending on the requirements of the service, you may be required to plan, develop and facilitate or co-facilitate groups and workshops relating to the service.
Establish and maintain network relationships with key agencies, other providers, and referral services.
Provide information, referral, and advocacy to support clients to access appropriate resources and services, both within The Benevolent Society and with external agencies and service providers.

Skills And Experience

As a qualified Social Worker, or Human Services professional, you will have:

At least 12 months of Case Management Experience.
Experience working with children or families in a child protection-focused role, including experience undertaking assessments.
Experience providing counselling and/or working with children, young people, and vulnerable families in crisis situations.
A clear understanding of child protection issues and client vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, mental health issues, and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour & development.
Ability to quickly and effectively evaluate client needs and identify potential referrals in line with those needs and ability to work in high-pressure situations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, relationship building skills, negotiation, liaison, ad advocacy skills.
Capacity to engage with people from all walks of life including the local Aboriginal community and people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds.
Current driver's license.
