About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join Maurice Blackburn's Abuse Law Practice in our Maroochydore or Brisbane office on a full-time or part-time (minimum 4 days per week) capacity.
Maurice Blackburn has a long history of practising in abuse law, and of advocating on the part of survivors of childhood sexual abuse. This is a unique opportunity to establish credentials and expertise in a developing area of law.
Due to the nature of the practice, there will at times be exposure to challenging material. Consequently, all staff in the practice are supported through access to external psychological support as well as market-leading and award-winning internal vicarious trauma training.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, drafting court documents, preparing legal correspondence, liaising with counsel, liaising with clients, conducting research, and obtaining witness statements. This work is conducted under the supervision of a lawyer.
Key selection criteria
In this role, you will be constantly challenged and expand your skill set. The successful applicant will ideally have :
* Experience in a legal support role as a legal assistant or paralegal;
* Personal injuries experience is desirable, although other practice areas will be considered;
* Excellent organisational skills and an ability to multi-task;
* Strong communication skills in liaising both internally and externally;
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite; and
* Enthusiasm and the ability to learn & grow in this area of law.
