The role:
Join Tassal, a leader in sustainable aquaculture, in the beautiful tropical location of Mission Beach. We are seeking a dedicated Water Quality Technician to play a vital role in our mission to produce high-quality, healthy prawns.

In this hands-on role, you will be the onsite expert for our innovative automatic water quality monitoring systems. You will report directly to the local Farm Manager for day-to-day operations and receive technical support from our centralised team in Proserpine. This position is crucial for supporting farm performance and requires a reliable, resilient individual committed to safety and excellence.

Responsibilities:

* Conduct daily water quality sampling and analysis, including microalgae and phytoplankton identification
* Operate, monitor, and maintain our cutting-edge automatic water quality monitoring systems.
* Monitor and interpret analytics, graphs, and system alarms via computer and iPad.
* Execute the farm's water quality strategy to optimise prawn health and growth.
* Maintain accurate records and reporting for water quality metrics.
* Uphold the highest standards of workplace health and safety at all times.
* Perform general farm duties and tasks as required to support site operations.

Role requirements:

* Commitment to working in a physically demanding prawn farming environment.
* Proficient computer and iPad skills for data monitoring and reporting.
* Reliable, resilient, and flexible with a strong commitment to safety.
* Excellent communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
* A current driver's licence (a forklift licence is highly advantageous).
* The ability to work a 5-day roster.
* The legal right to work in Australia.
* Preferred, but not essential: Experience in water quality, farming, or a technical field; knowledge of algal identification; Marine Biology qualifications.
