Your role in our future
The Parkville Integrated Palliative Care Service is a well‐established palliative care service, dedicated to providing high‐quality clinical care furthering innovation in palliative care research, training and education. The service operates as a single department across the Parkville Precinct, including at The Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, The Royal Melbourne Hospital and The Royal Women's Hospital. Undergraduate and postgraduate education is provided for all health disciplines and through programmes at the University of Melbourne. The department has a well‐developed Research and Quality Assurance programme and participates in PCOC and PaCCSC/CST. Our clinical activities include inpatient palliative care, consultation palliative care, outpatient clinics, community outreach and the Victorian Palliative Care Advice Service.
Position Summary
* Provide high quality patient management
* Contribute to a vibrant quality assurance and research program
* Participate in education program relevant to palliative care practice
* Promote Palliative Care, Peter Mac and the VCCC partner.
Key Responsibilities
* Undertake a senior clinical role in inpatient, outpatient and community palliative care with the possibility of engagement in rural palliative care through occasional clinics and/or telehealth.
* Undertake and promote interdisciplinary research at state, national and international levels, individually and in collaboration with department colleagues and the University of Melbourne.
* Assist in the delivery of high‐quality palliative medicine educational programmes.
* Attend outpatients and ward service as rostered, participate in clinical trials, commit to improving quality of care, revise policies as needed and engage in peer review patient‐related activities.
* Provide intellectual leadership by making conceptual advances, developing research that meets centre needs, securing peer‐reviewed funding, publishing in peer‐reviewed literature and establishing valuable external collaborations.
* Supervise and train registrars, residents, medical students, nursing and allied health staff and participate in other educational activities, including hospital‐wide programmes and VPMPT sessions.
* Promote the interests of the organisation by membership of relevant professional organisations, recognition locally and nationally, publishing work, contributing to department and divisional goals and engaging in strategic planning and development.
Qualifications & Experience
* Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in Palliative Medicine and/or Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of Palliative Medicine (FAChPM).
* Recognised by AHPRA as a specialist in Palliative Care Medicine.
* Significant clinical experience in Palliative Care.
* Appropriate clinical and research experience.
* Experience in medical education.

* Effective working relationships with all disciplines and teams involved in patient care.
* Supervision of junior medical staff and department nursing staff.
* Effective liaison with research nurses, data managers, diagnostic and pharmacy staff.
* Effective liaison with research partners and collaborative groups, both within Peter Mac and in external partnership with the management team.
External
* Effective working relationships with Peter Mac stakeholders, Department of Health and VCCC partners.
* Effective working relationship with palliative care consortium partners.
* Effective relationships with international partners.
Education & Skills
* Experience in medical education.
* Ability to provide leadership in a multidisciplinary team setting.
* Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships with medical staff and other disciplines.
* Appropriate clinical and research experience.
