About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced meat category buyer to manage and grow our protein supply portfolio.
1. Source and procure a range of proteins including beef, lamb, pork, poultry, and specialty meats with a focus on quality, freshness, and sustainability.
2. Develop and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international suppliers, producers, and processors to secure reliable supply and optimize margins.
3. Utilize in-depth product knowledge to make informed buying decisions that meet customer needs and expectations.
4. Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and volumes to achieve cost savings, improve supply chain efficiency, and enhance competitiveness.
5. Maintain market awareness, monitor seasonal variations, and analyze global supply chain trends to ensure timely responses to changes in demand and supply.
6. Collaborate closely with sales, production, and logistics teams to ensure seamless integration of procurement activities with overall business objectives.
7. Sustain compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies to protect brand reputation and ensure operational excellence.
8. Pursue opportunities for process improvement, cost reduction, and supplier development to drive business growth and profitability.
About You:
* A minimum of 3–5 years' experience in meat or protein procurement, preferably in wholesale, processing, or foodservice sectors.
* Demonstrated expertise in key protein categories, including knowledge of industry grading, specifications, and yield.
* Proven negotiation skills with a commercial mindset, able to build strong relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
* Established networks and supplier contacts within the industry, with a track record of successful collaboration and partnership-building.
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
* Excellent communication, time management, and interpersonal skills, with a customer-centric approach to procurement.
* Familiarity with food safety, compliance, and quality standards, with a commitment to maintaining high standards throughout the supply chain.
