About The Role
As a Department Manager at Bunnings, you will oversee the daily operations, sales and high‐volume stock management within your specialist area. You will work closely with Department Managers in Service, Inside the Home, Builders and Lifestyles & Garden, reporting to your Operations Manager and Complex Manager. Your team of 20+ will deliver the best customer experience and ensure the department showcases our widest range and best prices.
What's Involved
- Lead a team of 20+ to maintain an engaged and safe work environment, handling duty‐manager responsibilities including opening and closing the store on weekdays and weekends.
- Build team capability on Best Experience, Safety Culture & Compliance, and performance management.
- Plan and manage rosters to meet our service promise and drive departmental sales through strong merchandising and key metric monitoring.
- Act on customer feedback to improve the end‐to‐end experience.
- Own department stock accuracy, including adjustments, replenishment discipline, and loss‐prevention processes.
Who We're Looking For
We seek a highly driven individual with strong leadership and influencing skills, experienced in leading high‐volume retail teams and committed to safety and wellbeing.
You'll Need
- Lead and inspire a large team (20+) to deliver the Best Experience through engagement, coaching and teamwork.
- Previous experience leading teams in retail or a large customer‐focused organisation.
- Champion a safe & secure environment by role‐modeling safety leadership and ensuring compliance.
- Confident leader, experienced in opening and closing the store and supporting trade across weekdays and weekends.
- Build team capability through clear expectations, performance conversations and recognition.
- Deliver on our service promise through effective rostering and planning.
- Drive strong retail fundamentals, including merchandising excellence, sales performance, stock accuracy, availability and loss prevention.
