About the role
We're looking for a results‑driven Area Sales Manager to drive product sales with our MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Operations) customers in a wide variety of market sectors across the VIC region. Central to the role is proactive customer engagement in the field, and a drive to identify & secure business, from both existing & new customers.
Based in Melbourne and operating from our office in Burwood East, this sole‑charge role is well supported by talented local management & an experienced internal sales/customer service team, with product management & application engineering support readily accessible via our Sydney HQ.
Core elements of the role
* Meeting & exceeding annual Sales & Order Intake targets, which deliver solid year‑on‑year revenue growth
* Developing and growing a detailed CRM‑driven Opportunity pipeline, which tracks progress & drives results
* Long‑term customer relationship management, including frequent visits, customer networking, & timely customer service responses
* Proficient in interacting with both small and large organizations, and skilled in building multi‑level and cross‑disciplinary relationships within these entities
* Understanding our customers' operations and success drivers, and subsequently offering technical and commercial solutions (via proposal) that enhance performance, boost reliability, and fully meet their needs
* Engaging on customer pain points, and developing engineered solutions which alleviate issues, & improve productivity
* Collaborating with local and offshore product management teams to provide tailored product presentations and training sessions for key accounts
* Maximizing sales opportunities by cross‑selling the full WIKA product portfolio
* On‑going technical/commercial skills development via our online WIKAcademy & peer‑led training
* Regular travel within VIC, with occasional inter‑state & overseas trips for strategy sessions & professional development

Skills and experience
* Australian residents with a minimum of 3‑5 years' external sales experience, gained while selling industrial products, ideally instrumentation or related technology products (Note: In this instance we cannot support offshore applicants, requiring sponsorship support)
* Experience (or specialization) in key market sectors such as Food & Pharmaceutical, Water & Waste Water, Oil & Gas, Power Generation
* Skilled in driving business growth through strategic customer account planning and proactive market sector approaches that unlock new opportunities
* Analytical & collaborative skills which identify new target customers and/or industry opportunities, & qualify these for follow‑up
* The ability to interpret & convert customer needs into corresponding technical/commercial solutions, which meet key customer needs
* Expertise in presenting & negotiating technical/commercial solutions, handling exceptions, and closing sales
* A tertiary qualification in engineering (mechanical/electrical) or equivalent industrial instrumentation experience
* Intermediate to advanced ERP (SAP/D‑365/etc) & MS Office suite skills, along with exposure to CRM strategy & use
* A self‑driven approach, with a strong focus on planning & executing day‑to‑day activities which deliver tangible revenue‑related outcomes
