**POSITION PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE**
The incumbent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of roadside
mowing operations and general road maintenance activities within the Blue Mountains
LGA. It involves leading a team to ensure the efficient and effective maintenance of road
verges, highways, and other public areas, contributing to public safety and visual amenity.
This position is responsible for providing daily leadership and onsite direction to other
team members and to provide support to the Coordinator to ensure the section runs
efficiently to complete the required tasks.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- To effectively manage the day-to-day operation of all roadside mowing and public
domain maintenance, delivering quality outcomes that meet the priorities and
objectives of the organisation
- Maintain road verges, highways, footpaths and other designated public areas as
required and directed to reduce vegetation growth, ensure public safety and enhance
visual amenity.
- Operations of plant and general labouring of plant and equipment on a variety of
construction and maintenance works.
- Ensure assigned plant and tools are maintained to support operational activities.
- Carry out maintenace planning and scheduling as required to meet the team objectives
such as; pre-site establishment, operation of plant and equipment, traffic control and
general labouring duties.
- Provide technical support, advice and assistance to Coordinator, Maintenance East,
with a specific focus on solution driven outcomes.
- Actively contribute and maintain a protected working environment through the development
and implementation of agreed Councils safe systems of work.
- Actively work within Councils environmental policies, procedures and systems of work
such as environmental assessments.
- Manage staff performance, through active leadership, coaching and mentoring, setting
expectations for performance and work with staff to achieve assigned duties for the
team
- Promote a positive and harmonious work environment and a culture of a can-do
attitude through leading staff performance

- Utilise technology based systems for construction and maintenance works activities.
- Proactive approach to problem solving and flexible nature to change work direction for
an operational advantage
- Support the Coordinator, Program Leader and Manager in other duties as directed.
