Position details

Position based at Bundoora and Alfred Clinical Health School, Alfred Hospital

Salary level B starting from $114,855 plus 17% superannuation

About the position

A Level B academic in a teaching-focused role works independently and does not require close supervision. They are expected to develop curriculum, coordinate subjects, teach, and support students throughout their learning. In addition, they contribute to the administrative functions of the discipline and undertake scholarly activities that advance learning and teaching within their discipline or professional field.

A teaching-focused academic is expected to demonstrate teaching excellence in line with the La Trobe Teaching Excellence Principles and to maintain a strong record of achievement. This should be evidenced through Student Feedback on Teaching (SFT) surveys, peer review of teaching, and other evidence-based measures. A Level B teaching-focused academic will also coordinate and/or lead the activities of other staff, as appropriate to learning and teaching within the discipline.

They are expected to regularly participate in the collection and monitoring of student feedback through Student Feedback on Teaching surveys and will typically achieve strong results relative to their peers. At least once each year, they will arrange for their teaching to be peer reviewed as part of their commitment to scholarly teaching practice.

Skills and Experience

To be considered for this position, you will have:

* Registered or eligible to register as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* A Masters or equivalent accreditation and standing recognised by the University/profession as appropriate for the Nursing/Midwifery disciplines.
* Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, curriculum development and subject coordination in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, as evidenced by sustained high results on student feedback on teaching surveys, teaching excellence awards or through other forms of evidence.
* Clinical Currency in professional nursing.
* Ability to encourage intellectual development, discipline development and career aspirations of students.
