An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated Ward Manager, to join our highly skilled, innovative busy 28 bedded Intermediate Care ward.
Duffy Suite compromises of a nursing team who are supported by a MDT, including medics, therapy, pharmacy and social care teams.
Duffy Suite are providing rehabilitation for medically stable patients that no longer require acute hospital care, which often focuses on helping the patients return home. This ward operates under the Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
An Enhanced DBS Certificate is required for this post.

Main duties of the job
To be responsible for the effective and efficient management of Duffy Suite. Responsible for providing leadership and management to nursing and support team and associated staff to ensure effective running of ward/department.Working collaboratively with members of a multidisciplinary team to establish and maintain high standards of care.Maintain Professional Registration for self & team. Adhere to relevant Code of Practice of Professional bodyTo ensure optimum use of staff so that standards of care and safety are not compromisedThey will act as a role model to the teamThe post holder will sure that governance processes at ward level assure the quality of care delivered to patientsTo work collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team to maximise best use of resources, monitoring of patient flow, admission, and discharge arrangementsTo monitor Sickness and Absence at Ward level and work closely with Matron/Directorate Manager to ensure employees comply with policies and procedures relating to thisTo efficiently manage the resources allocated to the ward and identify options for cost improvements and support and monitor their implementationTo investigate all incidents/complaint thoroughly. Liaise promptly with the monthly to Directorate manager in regards to finance, quality and performance.

To be responsible for the setting, maintaining, and monitoring of standards of care within the wardProvide leadership, management and team development to designated staff group, acting in a consultative capacity, ensuring safe and effective service delivery.Provide specialist advice, leadership and support to the wider MDT ensuring the patient is at the centre of all decision making.Ensure high quality care throughout the service by ensuring assessment planning, implementation and evaluation of care delivery Maintain staff and patient records in compliance with Trust policyLiaising with internal departments and external agencies in order to provide evidence-based care and contribute to policy and practice changes.To ensure that the recording of patient care is comprehensive, concise, and valid and all team members are updated. To create a climate conducive to the practice of a high standard of care, ensuring the safety and well-being of staff, patients, and visitors to the ward, especially in relation to Health & SafetyTo commence and participate in research/special projects in conjunction with the MatronTo participate with the Matron in the recruitment, orientation, development, and any other personnel issues related to staff as requiredEnsure that all staff know, adhere to, and have access to all Policies and procedures for Duffy suite as well as the Trust policies & guidelines.
