About the Role
We are currently recruiting for
Residential Youth Support Workers
to join our
Short-Term Emergency Placement and MyLaunchPad Team
. Our Short-Term Emergency Residential Care program and MyLaunchPad program are both based in
Northwest Tasmania
(between
Latrobe
and
Burnie
), both programs are designed for young people who are unable to be placed through standard placement avenues, such as foster care, specialist care or other residential contracted service. These are hands-on
Permanent Part-Time
or
Casual
positions, with most time spent in the house or participating in recreational activities. You will be working directly with children and young people, the positions are based in a 24/7 residential setting with fortnightly rotating shift rosters. The program prioritises the safety and well-being of children and young people, offering a predictable, home-like environment that is culturally safe and responsive.
Suitable applicants will be asked to attend an Information Session and Interview, held in-person at the Penguin Surf Life Saving Club on the 17th November ****. We do recommend an application before this date.
Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day care, supervision and transport to children and young people
Actively participate in activities and increase competencies of young people
Form and maintain professional, nurturing relationships
Develop, implement and monitor individual plans
Actively support the child/young person to develop and maintain social skills
Maintenance of progress notes and report writing
Skills & Experience
Certificate 4 in Community Services, Youth Work, Mental Health, or other relevant qualification not required but highly preferred.
A current First Aid and CPR Certificate, or willingness to complete prior to commencement
Ability to work various shifts (sleepover & active nights) throughout the week
Experience working with children, youth and/or families within a residential setting.
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Vulnerable People check.
