About the opportunity

This is a great opportunity for a recent or soon‐to‐be graduate with a recognised qualification in librarianship, information and knowledge management, education, educational design, or user experience design to join the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (HASS) Academic Engagement team at the University of Sydney Library. In the Graduate Librarian role, you will work in a supportive environment to develop and deliver information and digital literacy services that support teaching, learning and research in humanities, arts and social science disciplines. You will work in a large, dynamic academic library, gain experience in project coordination and delivery, and collaborate widely across library divisions. The HASS team is committed to supporting our faculties and schools, and we seek a graduate (or near graduate) who will be a key part of our team.

Key responsibilities

* Systematically build and maintain proactive partnerships with the academic community.
* Contribute to strategies and initiatives to showcase Library services and resources, including presentations and reporting that emphasise the impact and value of service offerings.
* Work as part of a team to design, deliver and evaluate educational experiences.
* Develop and maintain knowledge of the Library's roles, functions, initiatives and services to support solutions‐oriented client connections and facilitate the Library's referral process.
* Gather and assess business intelligence from engagement activities to support future service development and alignment with University priorities.
* Contribute to a streamlined and client‐focused referral process by connecting clients to relevant expert teams within the Library.
* Collaborate with staff across the Library to enhance and refine service offerings, drawing from feedback and emerging academic trends.
* Deliver tailored programs and services to academic staff and higher degree by research (HDR) students.
* Contribute to planning, delivery and execution of programs and services that meet the evolving needs of researchers.

About you

* Recently completed (within the past 12 months) or near completion of a recognised qualification in librarianship, information and knowledge management, education, educational design, or user experience design.
* Understanding of the academic research lifecycle and the role of libraries in supporting teaching and research.
* Familiarity with information and digital literacy, information discovery tools and scholarly communication, with an understanding of the HASS context.
* Experience in presenting or teaching in an educational setting (e.g. through study, placement or employment).
* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to deliver service and project outcomes.
* Enthusiasm for working with diverse users in a large and complex academic environment.
