About the opportunity

The Allied Health department provides services to both inpatient and community programs. The team consists of physiotherapists, OTs, dietitian, speech pathologist, social workers and Allied Health Assistants. This position requires a compassionate and innovative counsellor to work as part of the community palliative care multidisciplinary team. The palliative care community team comprises registered nurses, palliative care consultant, social worker and occupational therapist.

* Bachelor degree or masters in counselling or social work (essential), with minimum 2 years clinical experience in bereavement (preferred).
* Demonstrated ability to provide compassionate, non-judgmental support through active listening and effective communication
* Knowledge of the emotional and psychological stages of grief, including cultural sensitivity and an understanding of complex grief and its impact.

You will also be required to provide evidence of, or in the process of obtaining:

* A current Police Record Check .
* Proof of current influenza vaccination and other vaccination status consistent with NSW Health policy.
