Doral Mineral SandsPty Ltd(DMS), has well established heavy mineral sands mining and processing facilities near Bunbury, Busselton and Mandurah in the Southwest of WA. As part of the company\'s growth strategy, we have broadened our mineral sands operations recently acquiring Coburn Resources within the Gascoyne region.

Role
The Operator reports to the Production Superintendent and is responsible for the operation and control of the wet concentration and screening process at the mine site, they ensure safe, efficient and continuous operations. This role requires active involvement in both the control room and out in the field, with a strong focus on physically inspecting equipment, conducting operational checks and responding to plant conditions in real time.
The Operator plays a key role in ensuring plant performance and product quality, maintaining a safe work environment, and supporting the overall success of the production team.
Key responsibilities
* Under direction from the senior operator adjusts plant/equipment control parameters within plant operating guidelines and instructions to attain or exceed production and quality targets.
* Carry out sampling, preparation and testing of process streams according to current instructions.
* Prevent contamination of product streams by regular inspections and maintenance of plant and equipment.
* Operate mobile equipment according to standard procedures and as directed.
* Carry out plant section start up and shut downs according to current instructions and training.
* Operate plant and equipment in a manner to minimise down time and parts consumption.
* Continually monitor the plant for abnormal signs of operation and take appropriate action to rectify the problem or notify the appropriate personnel.
* Carry out fault finding of the plant and report your findings to your senior operator or production superintendent. Fix the faults within the limit of your ability and training.
* Carry out housekeeping of the plant to ensure a neat and tidy environment is maintained.
* Carry out mechanical repairs to the plant within the limit of your ability and training.
* Carry out operational checks and tasks as directed.
* Raise plant suggestions where you see a need or benefit to the plant, personnel or production. Implement these improvement measures where authorised.
* Undertake routine tails and slimes services as directed
* Perform other day services activities as required
* Help and support peers within your shift and on other shifts to complete tasks as well as personnel outside your department where appropriate.
* Follow operation procedures, job hazard analyses and isolation system to ensure safety compliance.
Qualifications / Skills
* The successful applicant will have a great attitude to safety, problem-solving and efficiency incorporating a 'team ownership' mentality. Your skill set should ideally include:
* Experience working in mineral processing or heavy industrial fixed plant environment
* Previous experience and knowledge of plant equipment operations (e.g. pumps, screens, conveyors, spirals)
* Commitment to safe work practices and strong understanding of safety protocols
* Ability to read and interpret process flows, instructions and standard operating procedures
* Physically fit and able to work in a plant environment (dust, noise, heat, heights)
* C Class Driving Licence
* HR Class Driving Licence (desirable)
* Front End Loader and Forklift Competence (desirable)
* Mobile Equipment Competence (highly desirable)
* Basic Mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
* Demonstrated trouble shooting ability
* Statutory supervisor certification (S26) - (desirable)
