See yourself in our team We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Data Protection Engineer to manage, optimize, and scale our enterprise backup and recovery infrastructure. This role demands deep technical expertise in various data protection applications, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to collaborate across teams to ensure data protection and business continuity. Your responsibilities will include: Administer and maintain the Commvault backup and recovery environment across hybrid infrastructure. Monitor system health, job performance, and storage utilization proactively. Lead root cause analysis and resolution of backup failures, restore issues, and performance bottlenecks. Provide L3 support and mentor junior engineers. Ensure adherence to data retention and protection policies. Maintain detailed documentation for backup configurations, SOPs, and DR plans. Design and test disaster recovery strategies. Risk Mindset and ability to pro-actively mitigate risks Automate routine backup tasks using scripting tools (Python, PowerShell, Ansible). Work closely with cloud, infrastructure, and application teams to integrate Commvault with AWS and other platforms. Participate in capacity planning and architecture reviews. We’re interested in hearing from people who have: Expert-level hands-on experience with Commvault, DataDomain, Networker, CommServe, Media Agents, and client configurations. Strong understanding of backup policies, deduplication, catalogue management, and storage targets (ECS, Pure, VMAX). Proficiency in AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM) - AWS Cloud Practitioner certified Experience with scripting and automation tools (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Ansible, Terraform) Familiarity with monitoring tools and reporting dashboards such as Grafana, Prometheus Preferred Qualifications Extensive of experience in enterprise backup and recovery. Commvault Certified Professional or higher. Exposure to ITIL processes and change management.
