As a seasoned veterinary nurse, you will play a pivotal role in providing timely and compassionate care to critically ill and injured animals at our Animal Emergency Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
* Emergency Patient Care: Deliver high-quality nursing care to critically ill and injured animals in the emergency department
* Triage and Assessment: Quickly and accurately assess patients to determine the level of urgency and appropriate interventions
* Monitoring: Utilise advanced monitoring equipment to track vital signs and respond promptly to any changes in patient condition
* Collaboration: Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care and effective communication
* Client Communication: Update and communicate with pet owners regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, and prognosis
* Medical Procedures: Assist in a variety of medical procedures, including but not limited to wound care, fluid therapy, and administration of medications
* Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records in compliance with hospital protocols
Requirements:
* Cert IV qualified nurse or equivalent qualification
* Minimum 3+ years of experience in emergency and critical care nursing
* Proficient in IV catheter placement, blood sample collection, and anesthesia monitoring
* Familiarity with advanced monitoring equipment is advantageous
* Ability to work well and adapt quickly to challenges in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and compassionately to pet owners
