Offer description

We are seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly skilled Occupational First Aid Officer to join our College. This ongoing part‐time role (0.75 FTE) is spread across five days per week.

Reporting to the Senior Occupational First Aid Officer, you will provide excellent care and initial first aid services to students at the Health Centre, work closely with the Psychology and Counselling Team, and support the mental health and wellbeing of our students. You will also support sick or injured students and employees and promote health education throughout the College community.

Responsibilities
* Attend to sick/ injured students and employees including documentation for each patient. Determine treatment of Health Centre attendees including triage for multiple injuries.
* Ensure both College and student medications are stored securely and as per manufacturer's recommendations. Ensure use by dates are strictly monitored and adhered to.
* When required arrange transport for students to home, medical centre or hospital.
* Dispense medications as needed and promptly update records.
* Maintain record (paper and electronic) detailing staff and student injury data.
* Ensure lists of students with medical conditions are kept up to date and accurate, and immediately available for authorised staff to access.
* Maintain register for students with specific medical conditions and liaise with parents, Assistant Deputy Principals (ADPs), Psychologists and specialists as required.
Qualifications and experience
* Excellent ability to build rapport with students and maintain positive relationships with students, families and staff.
* Excellent interpersonal skills with a calm, empathetic, and professional approach.
* Excellent ability to maintain confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.
* Proven ability in delivering first aid and responding to medical incidents.
* Proven ability in recognising and responding to mental health concerns and emotional distress.
* Proven experience in crisis response, triaging students' health concerns and needs.
* Excellent problem‐solving skills – the ability to make quick decisions in the event of an emergency, also the ability to resolve staffing concerns in a timely and professional manner.
* Excellent organisation and administrative skills, including accurate record keeping.
* Excellent ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‐paced College environment.
* The successful applicant will need to provide evidence of a current Working with Children Check and a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History check.
Required certifications
* Occupational First Aider Certificate via St John's Ambulance requirements
* Certificate IV Health Care (Ambulance)
* Graduate Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety
* Bachelor of Science – Science (paramedical)
* Youth Mental Health First Aid
* Nursing Qualification current or lapsed
