Purpose of the Role

Tate Asia-Pacific is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Manager to oversee procurement and purchasing activities across our manufacturing and warehousing operations.

The role ensures the timely acquisition of quality goods and services in line with production requirements, budget targets, and compliance obligations. The Purchasing Manager will maintain supplier relationships, manage purchasing processes, and drive operational efficiency while adhering to NSW procurement legislation, Work Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, Australian Consumer Law, and company policies.

You will work closely with Production, Warehousing, Logistics, Finance, and Quality Assurance teams to support operational goals and ensure alignment between purchasing and production schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Purchasing Management

* Lead purchasing activities to support manufacture and delivery of raised access floors, airflow components, ceiling grids, aluminum extrusions and accessories.
* Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with production schedules, project timelines and budget targets.
* Manage day-to-day purchasing activities, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of goods and services.
* Review, compare, analyse and approve materials, components, equipment and services for acquisition.
* Maintain accurate purchasing records, including pricing, supplier information, and inventory levels.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimise processes, reduce costs, and minimise waste.

Supplier & Contract Management

* Monitor and ensure product compliance with local, regional, and international regulations
* Identify, evaluate and onboard suppliers capable of supporting production of core building system components.
* Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, quality requirements and service levels with both local and international vendors.
* Maintain and regularly review preferred supplier lists, ensuring documentation and compliance are current.
* Monitor supplier performance across delivery timelines, product quality, and contractual compliance.

Inventory & Materials Planning

* Forecast material needs in collaboration with production, warehousing, sales and project teams.
* Maintain appropriate inventory levels — avoiding stock outs and minimising excess capital outlay.
* Support stock reconciliation, invoice matching, and reporting of procurement KPIs.
* Prepare automated materials forecasting reports to support production and project schedules.

Compliance & Risk Management

* Identify and mitigate risks in supplier contracts and agreements.
* Maintain accurate procurement records to support audits and reporting.

Key relationships:

Production, Warehousing, Logistics, Finance, and Quality Assurance teams.

Education, Work Experience & Skills required, Personal Qualities (Selection Criteria)

Education:

* Certificate IV or Diploma in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field.

Work Experience and Skills:

* 2–4 years of procurement or purchasing experience in manufacturing, warehousing, or industrial operations.
* Experience in vendor negotiation, cost analysis, and supplier management.
* Knowledge of WHS regulations, NSW procurement legislation, and Australian Consumer Law.
* Experience managing imports and international suppliers (preferred).
* Familiarity with ISO 9001/14001 standards and ethical sourcing requirements.
* Supervisory or team management experience is desirable.
* Capability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, maintaining order and efficiency in workflow and documentation.
* Flexibility to adjust to changes in project scope, timelines, or requirements, ensuring high-quality outcomes.
* Experience working with local steel fabricators, aluminium extrusion companies, steel suppliers, powder coaters, and galvanisers.
* Understanding of fabrication, finishing processes, and related lead times.
* Ability to coordinate material flow between suppliers, fabricators, and finishing vendors.
