Role Overview
UMENCO is seeking a Garment Technician | Patternmaker for a female-founded brand whose designs are centred around key seasonal styles and contemporary tailored essentials.
The Garment Technician | Patternmaker role sits at the intersection of technical precision and creative design, ideal for someone with a keen eye for detail and a passion for bringing beautifully constructed garments to life. This position plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of design through technical execution, supporting the brand’s commitment to quality and fit.
In this quick=paced and creatively driven environment, the successful talent will work across multiple categories, collaborating with both the Design and Production teams to ensure each piece meets the high standards of the brand. The role involves measuring samples, developing specifications for offshore production, contributing to fittings and ensuring accurate documentation of alterations and changes throughout the product lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include creating and adjusting digital patterns using StyleCAD, managing technical packs, communicating with offshore suppliers and maintaining the pattern library. The Garment Technician | Patternmaker will also assist in creating markers for local sampling, perform quality checks and ensure adherence to the brand’s critical path. Working closely with the product development team, the Garment Technician | Patternmaker technical knowledge will support the translation of design vision into the final product.
The successful talent will have a minimum of 5 years experience in digital pattern making and garment technology, with a relevant qualification. A calm, solutions-focused demeanour is required and an ability to to combine creativity with methodical thinking. A strong understanding of garment construction, fit and fabrication is essential, as is proficiency in StyleCAD.
